About
Introducing a Voice User Interface (VUI) designed to bring physical therapy closer to people's daily lives. This platform aims to help individuals relieve physical pain and improve their well-being through online voice interactions. By connecting users with virtual physical therapists, providing personalized exercises, and expert guidance, it offers convenience and flexibility from the comfort of their homes.
Background
In our modern society, it’s increasingly common for people, especially office workers with sedentary or standing roles, to face persistent physical discomfort. This issue often arises due to a lack of awareness about effective physical therapy, and the demands of daily life make it challenging to seek professional treatment. This prolonged discomfort can lead to enduring physical problems.
My research starts by assessing the current perceptions of physical therapy and its prevalence among diverse populations in the United States, aiming to pinpoint the specific barriers preventing individuals, from readily incorporating professional physical therapy into their daily routines, thus informing the targeted development of a user-centric app.
Where are most physical therapists located?
What age group are most physical therapists patients?
Research
During my research, I found physical pain and injuries are prevalent issues affecting many individuals. Physical therapy plays an important role in helping people release body pain. While most people believe in physical therapy, they are unable to receive it for different reasons.
Crazy 8
For this project, I am focusing on three major pain points: Limited Access to Physical Therapy, Pain and Lengthy Waiting Process, and Lack of Relevant Physical Therapy Guidance and Training Programs. So, I started asking myself, “How can we make physical therapy more accessible to people?” Based on this question, I began the brainstorming process using the “Crazy 8” technique. The idea was to come up with creative solutions that would make it more convenient for people to access and benefit from physical therapy.
User Persona
Design Inspiration
Dogsbody? Brittle Employee?
The emergence of terms like “Dogsbody” and “Brittle Employee” in the internet lexicon sheds light on the stress and health challenges faced by today's young workforce. Extended periods of screen time, sedentary routines, and physical strain collectively impact physical well-being, making individuals more susceptible to health issues. Amidst these challenges, many struggle to find the time and energy for proper healthcare, posing a threat to their overall health. Over time, this neglect may exacerbate into more serious physical ailments.
Visual Identity
EaseUp embraces a design ethos centered around tranquility and clarity. The predominant use of the color blue serves as a visual anchor, instilling a sense of calmness and reliability. Blue, known for its soothing and therapeutic associations, aligns seamlessly with the app’s purpose—promoting physical well-being.
The choice of the Poppins font complements this aesthetic, offering a modern and clean typographic style that enhances readability and user engagement. Through the calming hues of blue and the sleek Poppins font, our app not only aims to deliver a user-friendly experience but also seeks to create an environment that encourages users to embark on their journey to optimal physical health with confidence and ease.

Voice Assistant (Flexi! )
By using a platform called Voiceflow, I trained a voice chatbot called Flexi. I designed the voice conversation flow and created prototypes so that it could be simulated that the application could modify training programs and make or remind therapy appointments through voice interaction.
