About
Craft is a central part of my practice. I see it as a way of making something out of very little, and a way of thinking through material. This led to a hypothetical rebranding project for Craft Contemporary, a non-profit art museum in Los Angeles.
I reimagined it as the Contemporary Craft Center, with a new visual identity that responds to the city’s diverse communities and its strong connection to craft.
Custom Typography System
In the name “Contemporary Craft Center,” the letter “C” becomes the core element. The typography system is built from nine variations of the letter, each linked to a different craft material.
These forms act as the foundation of the identity, holding the diversity of materials within a single structure.
Logo Design
The logo is built from typography inspired by fiber arts.
It reflects the museum’s intention to connect the Los Angeles community with the world of craft.
Collateral
The rebranding extends across multiple mediums, including posters, booklets, collateral, spatial design, web, and installation.
Together, these applications introduce the new identity and communicate its connection to craft, while opening it up to the public.

Web Design
The website was designed in Figma, using the nine “C” forms as the primary graphic elements. Subtle interactive animations are integrated to support browsing and draw attention to the content.
The design is developed for both web and mobile, keeping the experience consistent across platforms.

Scent Chords Lab
What is it? Scent & Sound?
The project introduces a new space within the museum, a lab called Scent Chords.
Craft is often understood through sight and touch. This lab shifts that focus to scent and sound, creating a multi-sensory experience. It invites visitors to engage with craft in a different way.
The work draws from past museum programs and the ideas of Septimus Piesse. In 1858, he proposed the “Odophone,” a scale that links smells to musical pitch.
This lab builds on that framework, alongside references such as Odophonics by Sean Francis Conway and Brian Goeltzenleuchter.
Custom Typography System
Building on the relationship between scent and sound, I developed a typography system using two overlapping scripts.
One is constructed from circles, suggesting the diffusion of scent. The other is built from rectangular forms, referencing piano keys and sound. The two layers work together to translate scent and sound into a shared visual language.
I also redesigned a cross-reference table of musical pitches and scents, based on the theory of Septimus Piesse.
Web Design
The project centers on experience.
Using Figma’s interactive features, visitors can play sound, generate postcards with the lab’s typeface, and move through the experiment online.

Generative & Installation Design
1. Personalized Postcard
Generator with p5.js
Users can design postcards in p5.js using the custom typeface.
They adjust pitch through sliders, choose colors, and add text to shape each design.
The final postcard can be saved or printed.
2. Musical Installation using Processing and Arduino
This part connects seven musical pitches with specific scents.
Each pair is visualized through fluid simulation and assigned a distinct color.A humidifier releases the scent that matches the color shown on screen, while buttons allow users to switch between them.
Together, these elements build a multi-sensory interaction.
